Five words to destruction

A poem I wrote for a class

Millions of children placed upon racks as if leaves affixed to the branches of a tree.
Religion formed from the illicit dealings of beasts enshrouded with deceit.
Worship clouds their eyes from the horrors their endeavors burn on the blank canvas that is their children.
Their doom arrives in the form of a back handed slap of their children’s broken innocence and rage.
In their panic they destroy their only chance at salvation.
