Creek's Fenceline

Creek's Fenceline

A Poem by rox

Detailed memories run through my head.

-again

Once again, you're there

-in my head

We're running.

Smiling.

Laughing.

Along the countryside,

by the old creek.

We run. Along your fenceline that lining the fields.

I fall.

You laugh.

We roll down the hills.

Through the scattered dandelions.

You stand up and your figure is tall.

You're blocking the sun and I can't see your face.

You say you're sorry and I wouldn't understand.

I tell you that I love you

You apologize for that.

The sky grew dark, and the rain came.

I blink and you're gone.

I feel heavy, like wet clothes.

I see your reflection in the old creek.

"Help me," you say, "Jump."

I jump.

The water is cold and murky.

I hear your voice, "I know you love me."

It's clear as a bell.

I need air.

I try to see the surface.

But the water is fading. To black.

Save me. Save me.

And there you are.

...apologizing.

And now we're running against the fenceline,

by the old creek.

It was sad, a bittersweet tale of love and of happiness in fleet, but that you'd do all you can to get it back. Well done, and I am astonished by the wrods and imagery. Well done!
