::A Hard Lesson::

Once upon a time
In a land dry and hot
There was a girl
Who couldn't be taught

 

 

"Be careful!" they'd say
"Watch out!" they'd shout
But on she went
She knew without doubt

 

 

They were wrong
So safe and so boring
And she wanted to LIVE
Until she was soaring

 

 

And then came the day
That the girl got hurt
Physically and emotionally
Covered in dirt

 

 

She couldn't believe
It had happened to her
Her life was crashing
So fast in a blur

 

 

"I told you so" they'd say
"Should've listened" they'd cry
But she still didn't understand
She just had to try

 

 

And learn from her mistakes
She sadly had to do
A hard pill to swallow
But long over due

 

 

So this girl could be taught
But not through her mentors
She had her own experience
That helped get her centered

 

 

Live your own life
Learn as you go
Do it yourself
And then you will know

You know, this has a lot of truth to it. Too often people scorn others for attempting something or tell them not to attempt it. Sometimes, we just have to learn from our own mistakes. It's one of the most effective ways we grow.

O_O This should replace 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' in childrens books. I never really liked the boy who cried wolf growing up. This makes more sense to me. Fantastic write!
