Build or Destroy

Build or Destroy

A Poem by rudelizard
"

"Every act of creation is first an act of destruction" - Pablo Picasso

"

We are remnants of a flawless tragedy,

A cataclysm of love and disarray,

Enamored by the rubble of our construct,

Dancing in the shadows of demolition,

Caressed by the embers of a dying fuse,

Landing gently in the swell of my palms,

Eyes closed looking up at heaven,

For a moment to relish the smoky peace,

Landscape marred by the fallout of pride,

Worn smiles converge in symbolic strength,

To honor the chaos of yesterday’s lore,

Re-purposing what others left to discard,

We remain casualties of the disorder,

Forgotten spoils in a field of debris,

Our splendor rests within the wreckage,

The blissful afterglow of warring hearts.

Very moving. I love the Piscasso quote heading into the poem. It really reminds you of the tragedy of destruction and yet we persevere as we rise from the ashes. I still remember the disbelief of the events as they unfolded, as many do. This poem is fine representation and memorial to such a tragic event. This is excellently written. Great poem, my friend!

I love the descriptiveness (I don't think that's even a word, but whatever) of your writing!
