All That's Left

All That's Left

A Poem by Soph

You lost your smile
somewhere in a pile
of that grey dust.
We miss and grieve,
but you had to leave;
Everyone must.
A month ago you were still here,
now I'll never see you again, my dear.
Ashes, all that's left of you.
I'll come around
and I hope you do too
when I'm at your grave
make a sound
and keep me safe
all around.

Hopefully the ashes will rise and reincarnate themselves and pump life into the YOU again so that he might come back again. The grave is too beautiful a metaphor despite its melancholic allegory (death). But before death comes life, long and can be filled with love and passion to allow two hearts to unite. Very beautifully written. You made excellence use of your poetic gift and you did a good job using the words sparingly, in a rhythmic fashion that evokes the reader's emotions.
Warmly,
R
