20 years gone by
a thousand tears cried
my hearts dried
grown cold inside

at least it has to you!

how can you think this man before you is the child you slew so long ago ....

how can you believe this heart inside my chest is the same as the child's heart you staked so long ago

you cast me .....

into the shadows .....

let me witness life's hollow

showed me you were shallow

I've walked through fire and come undone ....

I've even held a gun

held it up unto God's temple ..... trembling
but i couldn't pull the trigger

go figure

so smoke and singed i forced myself to stand tall

dragging myself across the jagged road

a second chance to dance past death

i found it
my life
my love
my heart
renewed

and i owe it to cruel fate's past
the child you cast has become a man
