I simply am

I simply am

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay
"

written as i of the storm

"

from beginning to the end i wear a smile
pretending that positive inquisitives is how i live
all the while the storms within
battling frustration at hypothetical narrations
you don't now me, huh that's a bold piece of shiiiiiiiiit
believing for the moment that yours don't stink
tying to hide it behind incense and lavender potpourri
my that's a big horn your toting
don't hurt yourself trying to blow it
what's that you asking when did i become renegades kid
that's easy
the moment i took my first step and kept walking out the door
you see sometimes the grass is greener when you keep on stepping
yeah i know lifes lessons i learned them too
but that doesn't mean i have to grab a wad like it was big league chew
and keep chewing and chewing
sometimes you haveta spit
and cause it's fire when i do they jump back like F U
hears a few i's
I am that son of a gun
that b*****d child that spits into the sun
I am that street beat that makes you pause and go dammmmmnnnn
the meaning you say you get when you don't understand
the storm rider that walks on quicksand
the cold shower after that hard fall
the wake up call
the mountain top the eagle feather
heart and soul
love and hate
tears stained
shear pain
the forgotten and the insane
the traveler on the great plains
poetry's child
the chosen and the damned
and above all i simply am
