Dragonfly

Dragonfly

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

Dragonfly
tender caresses of BS off the lips of that shadowy figure of
you
if i was amazed it wasn't from what you said without thought
it was that cold slouch that had me staring uncaring into the sunset
praying for a cold wind to take away this buzzing in my ear
blinded were my eyes by the colors reflected off your wings
radiant rainbows strung over strands of hair rooted in one idea
me
hoping i would chase you down the meadow like a child does
the first time they see a dragonfly sparkling in the grass
over time i sketched images in my mind of better days
storing them away in suitcases
waiting for the right time to take that trip down memory lane
i took one today and i as i recall
i never saw a dragonfly quite like you
now that i have i'm content to let you fly away

This is well written. I went into reading this just by the title that it would be some sort of love poem but it surprised me when it wasn't. I like the feel of this. The flow is great. I liked the structure. Very good poem!
