tonight i write until my pen runs dryA Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay
Tonight I write until my pen runs dry Until my last tear is cried With these thoughts I begin to die I sacrifice my soul for my heart Torn apart by a lie painted on my lips Delivered with a kiss as you cut me deep Let me bleed my smile away Cover my wounds with vinegar So I ache Then hide my pain behind a mask Let this be my last gasp I’m so cold in the shadow of the sun I burn no more Distant as time would have me I am now caught between moments Locked out Waiting for nothing Except your embrace Knowing it’s not the same Let me count the raindrops as they fall through broken parasols Hitting the cracks on my spirit Bending me out of shape Into something less then me How many pieces of me do you need So you can fly If I told you how much I loved you would you be able to sing my lullaby If you could would you put me back together as is Or remake me in your image Forever unforgiving and broken © 2008 Matthew L.
