Guilty

Guilty

A Story by Sam

The jury filed back, and with everyone now seated, the judge called on the jurors for their verdict. The foreman, in reality, a witness sworn to secrecy, rose, and the courtroom became silent. The foreman knew that smug mobster on trial was guilty of every crime, despite a complete lack of evidence. Against the unanimous decision of the jury, he declared to the court, “We find the defendant... guilty on all counts.” Everyone, even the jury was in an uproar, especially the defendant who railed the loudest.

At the back, a well-dressed man aimed at the foreman, smiled, and fired.
