The chains
A Poem by
Santulan
A slightly different view on the chains that bind prisoners
Many people curse
The chains that
Bind prisoners
For it is these chains
That stand
In the way
Of his escape.
Chains that weigh
Upon the conscience
Of those who have sinned
Chains that tarnish
The hands of
The beauty that tempts
But has some one
Thought of
The chains
That drag themselves
For having held
Those innocents
Whom it had to imprison
And suffer along
For being helpless
And have them be
Sinned upon.
