‘Don’t go in grasshopper’s houses’A Poem by KadiExact words of a four year old I once babysat. Credit to him.
‘Don’t go in grasshopper’s houses’,
you warned as we supposedly passed them by I can’t say I know much about grasshopper’s houses but I can’t say I wouldn’t try Because with your mother’s cluttered apartment overseen by wise eyes Your mother’s stack of judgment and late in the night girlish advice Paid no heed walking into her house yours too, now did I? Cautious one, you’ll learn soon it’s worth the risk of wasted time Regard doormat warnings, eyes from your mother will know what’s right If you still wish to come in, For the grasshoppers, knock twice You’ll form a quilted neighborhood Each visit a patch, no two alike You and your mother might like to know, there’s a patch of green on mine I think of that walk and miss you so Most houses you must say goodbye A shame we are unable to stare into the sun, that pretty things learn to fly © 2025 KadiAuthor's Note
