THE WARRIOR by SaunvedA Poem by saunvedThe warrior comes riding from his war...he has won in single-handed and now...he meets his army...which is tired and which had lost all hope!
He rode forth on his steed of steel,
his hands brown - bleeding sweet; his brows furrowed in agony, his eyes...pinched with grief! His sword was red with crimson hate, his shield was cracked with blows, his helmet stunned with a thousand strikes, his face was grim with sorrow! He pierced his gaze upon the clouds, and lo! They parted quickly, his hands held high to silence the army, the army- covered in dust! He leaped from his horse, upon the ground, and embraced the dust sweet, and then he rose silently, and looked with pity at the army! He leaned upon his sword of steel, he unfastened his helmet grey, his shield he lay upon the ground, he breathed the air- with a curious sniff, and felt the blood and sweat! His army fell upon their knees, their eyes filled with awe, their hands saluting him in ecstasy, their swords at his feet long... And then...he cried, he sand, he shouted- the victory song which he had learned, and when he finished his song so sweet, he showed his heart...which was deeply pierced....... © 2012 saunvedAuthor's Note
