window waterA Poem by s.azeem
Cage turn or twisting,
looking down to elbows burning
dim of light, or metal rib whirring, walk in like fish to luring pat your pants from the seat dirty but there are no distractions at three thirty Train or submarine full of water strangers don't care, not even bother, Each turn, teeter, totter, it moves the train, it moves the water aquarium glass or silver line window breathe out to watch the bubbles sotter stop ahead is lit aglow carry the schools the fish ago. his red hat now red stripe His arm raised, a fins' swipe. spot inside a swimming shark, too far in the distance, too far in the dark. On the floor a tooth, a bone, this water won't diffuse cologne. none they see, nor they panic not the swordfish, nor the mackerel, or the haddock. adrift its sight an elbow bleeds I wish it'd bite, the blood that feeds doors wide open and fishes dry blink and now they're passersby. not a struggle nor a duel, just the metro and memory cruel. © 2026 s.azeem |
