Don't Kid Yourself, Kid
A Poem by
screamin'ian
Summing it up
In the final
Analysis
It was fun
While it lasted
Take my Own
Advice
Forget ifs
Ands or whys
Since it's the lies
That have left me
Confused as
To purpose
I believe
I will leave Them
On purpose behind
Don't kid yourself, kid
No thought of me
Or my well-being
Could be enough
Could be so compelling
To lie bare-faced
To lie in the gutter
Just to have
Your back
Turned
To me
It was easy
To exit
An easy way
At least
Christ
Got his kiss
No such dignity
Exists
For me

I really like your work. Your words are so well placed, have big impact. Love "for ifs, ands or whys." Very clever.

I take it as sorrow and regret, a yearning that goes unsaited due to lack of diving in, letting yourself be vulnerable instead of turning your back in fear of a greater pain.... Beautiful and honest write.
