A Little Piece of InnocenceA Poem by Michael G. SmithWhat childhood innocence is left in us.Leave the dreams And poems be A time of these are gems A piece of innocence that's left, ...in me
Breaking free... From a bush Of thickset thorns Somewhere else, Inside this heart and inside this head
Further still, Sits a river; sojourn Against bygone hills,
Painted darker Into the colors Of a forest evergreens
Filled by tears, A son once shed For a mother lost... hung Among, deep regrets
Please, will you... Leave the dreams And poems be?
Of a mind now... lush with meadows Where this boy a man he born And, shall evermore run ... into the wilds
Never again, By notion's ageless plight... Become overshadowed
Or even be, Entangled Within the looming trees ... of life © 2013 Michael G. SmithReviews
