Broken Heart BegoneA Poem by Michael G. Smiththe ghost of loveMy broken heart is
an old friend now I see her once in
awhile In eyes of other
faces The shattered dish that
fell upon the tile
She never smiles And I still feel
her pain But it no longer
belongs to me And I never worry
to see her again
Although she’s
there in a shadow Sometimes when I’m marking
the calendar days Or looking through
old photographs Clothes with tough
to remove stains
She never bothers me
just stops and stares I always look back for
a moment at her And then smile to
myself Hug my wife and
close the door
