In A Forest PondA Poem by DanaRegenA ballade I wrote for class, about a pond, inspired by camp long in Seattle WA.
In a Forest Pond
By Dana S.
(ballade)
Croaking comes from a forest pond
Frogs leap from lily to lily
Taking in the cool doth air
Another group of frogs appear
Hoping supper is near
A frenzy of flies encircle the pond
Red flimsy tongues take to the air
Soon bellies are filled from the meal,
It was quite a steal for the frogs,
In a forest pond
Fireflies light up the sky
In the most dazzling dance of the night
Lights prance intrigued with the pond
Lulling the creatures to sleep
Night shifts to morning
Fireflies do take warning and return to their nests
After another fest
In a forest pond
Turtles bask in the sun
Warming their shells on little black rocks
Relaxation is all that they want
Young turtles play lots of games
Swimming around most the day
As night draws near there’s a new frontier
In a forest pond
Frogs, Fireflies, Turtles
Thriving, surviving
Putting on a show
In a forest pond
