Blue Like The Sky

i wrote this in high school, we had a choice of pictures to write from, the one i chose reminded me of slavery...its was very close to the picture I've posted

Under the pale blue sky
On the deep green earth
Is where I cry
Is where I work
Under the masters eye
Blue like the sky
Bound by the tools I hold in my hand
I lost my identity, I’m no longer a man
Every black face looks the same-
Beauty blurred by hate and pain
Under the pale blue sky
Is where I pray to die  fly…

I wonder what the man in the painting would think of your poem ( :
What his true thoughts of who he was really were...
we can stand now in this century and say what we think they thought...but when I look at the ways of rising above the situation I see strength, determination, and great creativity of all kinds to endure the unthinkable..

Sad to think there is a word, racism. We are after all the same. Excellent read and write. I felt the aching heart in the words reflecting on a time when people were mistreated.

i can see that you were struggling with identiy, loss, racism or a combitnation of the three, posing more questions, i felt a distant sympathy given that this is past tense.

yes, its a reflection of what slaves may have felt back then...and what many ppl may feel today
