Did you know Jimmy Hendrix couldn't get taken seriously in the states so he went to London and the Brits went crazy for him. It was the 1960's, he was black so you do the math.

It had more to do with promoters and the music industry at the time. Once he recorded "Are You Experienced" in London and the fans picked up on it in the states he started getting better US exposure but he died before he could enjoy his own legend. I saw a film about him. The film producers were interviewing one of his X girl friends and she said "Jimmy man, you drink a pint he drink a quart, you take one he took five, he was crazy baby."

Awesome. Elvis Presley's manager was quoted to have said "If I could find a white man with the nigro sound I could make a million dollars." So he found Elvis, the blackest cracker America ever saw. Talented Elvis was for sure but original, hardly. Rock and Roll was all about sex and Elvis oozed sex from ever cracker pour in his body. Everyone knows the black man invented rock and roll but not to many people realize the British perfected it, at least the version of Rock and Roll mired in blues. Led Zeppelin was the pinnacle of blues style rock and roll to me. Some would argue the rolling stones and that would be a good argument. The stones were blues and oozed sex just like Led Zeppelin did. Then punk came along and blew blues rock out of the water.

yes, blues and soul (the roots of rock and most genres)...that's whats missing from today's music, but there are a lot of underground bands and artist that can bring that to the table...they just don't have the promotion
