Practice

Practice

A Story by Shane Meenan

Moral/lesson- Practice makes perfect.

I couldn’t wait to turn sixteen and get behind the wheel of a car.

My brother was driving for a year and I was so jealous of him.

Having the freedom to go and come when I wanted sounded amazing.

So the day after my birthday my aunt and I went to get my learners permit.

I held the permit tightly in my hand as my aunt drove us to Temple parking lot.

Then it happened, she told me to get in and there I was behind the wheel of a car.

She then explained about the brakes, gas, gears, mirrors and other stuff.

I couldn’t wait to put my foot on the gas and get that special feeling.

It was fun but little did I know there would be hours of practice and tests to be taken for driving discounts.

My aunt constantly dictating and critiquing my every action.

It started to feel like a job instead of fun.

But the day finally came and I scheduled my test.

My aunt and I drove to Huntingdon Valley and waited for my turn.

I guess all the practicing and my aunt dictating paid off. I got my license.

That night I grabbed the keys off the counter and headed for the door, finally freedom.

I guess anything that really matters does not come easy.

My parents made me do hours of preparation but now I feel confident.

All I can say is in the end it was well worth it!

That said the story is pretty solid. To improve I would add about 20 lines of dialogue

This assignment was supposed to be a dialogue and I don't see a single quotation in here
