Cracker Boy (Colorblind)A Poem by iceteakik
What's wrong with my skin?
I don't see the big out of this deal your making Is it that? What is it that I can not see? More to the point, what is it that you see? Stop making me guess, I'm not one for that game. Tell me, is it really my color? Does my origin matter or who my parent's,grandparents were? When you dare to look, do you see nothing more than the physical barriers? Is it black or is it white? I'm yellow and that's that, so why do you lump me with just black when underneath this skin bursts a rainbow? Underneath muscles and core there is a heart also, it beats for you no matter how "dirty" the blood. Does it matter if we're like old TV shows with a twist. Can our show not be "I love Niecey" or if we married and had kids,"The Mulatto Bunch?" Would you disgrace your family further or would I do it for you? You say you don't care what they think, but that's not really true now is it? If fate gave us the chance would you give me a hand in building something we believe in together? Would you give me the chance to let me say, you are every color to my eyes, black included. I pray one day god will make you colorblind so that our love can exist as a martyr to love blind fools everywhere
