Sweeter and Sweeter StillA Poem by Shayla Sayerforbidden fruit...?To gaze at a beautiful flower And know without a doubt That it will never be yours to own… It makes gazing at such flower Even sweeter, does it not? But what about the fruit You gaze at longingly Wanting so bad to taste its delicious nectar… And while you know You never will Gazing is no longer so sweet When you watch another Bite deep And devour the fruit You had wanted, but accepted as never to be owned By you. You watch in abstract horror And mild disappointment As the juice you had fantasized so Runs down the chin and hands of another. The flower, while sweet to gaze upon Bears a fruit Which tempts, and only leads To an eventual demise For to watch another (No matter how deserving!) Get that which you desire… Poisons the soul. © 2011 Shayla SayerFeatured Review
