Cumulus

Cumulus

A Poem by Venus de Malaisie

You've been out in the world,
For as long as you've been within me,
Your cheeks like wild flowers blooming in the tropical heat,
Your smile tanning my already sun kissed skin,
Your touch like pearls on oyster flesh,
As I catch you looking at your fingers so intricately,
They move so rhythmically like brass fingers seen in a dance,
I pick you up and place you to my ear,
Like a conch shell you echo the vastness of the sea,
You presence in my life like a mango tree,
I am drawn to you like honey to a bee,
Like milk in my eye, you soothe me in the night,
Your gaze remains rose golden in the morning light,
Your laugh star dust in the cosmos,
You worth is far more than gold,
My heart is forever aglow,
Even when the sun sets low,
Amidst the horizon you stay afloat,
I will forever be in awe of your existence,
A masterpiece of perseverance,
Cumulus, you're small now,
But I can't wait to watch you grow.
