The leaves have long since turned
and now begin to fall to the earth around me
  He has left his mark
like a lead weight upon my back

The final act has come and gone
and I am left wondering what I missed.
 
I am left to question much more than mere intentions
I chastised myself into believing that there was something
I could have done differently
I know now that this is untrue.
I wish I knew it then.
