Old school Roses are Red

I remember when I was Just a child 

and things were simple

things were sweet

things a boy wrote to me

Roses are red

Violets are blue 

I have a crush on you

when I saw it I knew his heart was true

because he wrote it and all was true

just like the time he took to write it

just as long for me to read it

reading it over and over again 

smiling each time just knowing he did 

feeling the butterflies fly over my head

what a dream old school roses can bring 

he is so cute I can't wait to see him 

nothing like old school roses to melt my heart again 

Finding this letter from when I was nine

makes me think of old times

when I was happy, and when I was loved 

felt like heaven above

he wrote me this letter

then wrote me another

then wrote me another

and then another

then soon after that

he got on one knee

and asked me please

will you marry me

and soon after that

we were married and laugh 

at the things we did to 

get to this point

then soon after that

we had a baby

and that was that!

Hello Shimae Parks. This is by all means a cleverly executed poem. You make a lengthy process in the course of life seem to have eventuated rather swiftly. But I guess that’s what life is – although it comes across as something undergoing gradual progression you look back into it and see just how quickly things occurred.
