A Sudden Urge

A Sudden Urge

A Poem by Connor

 I dream of rebellion,

of birds and trees and such

of fresh air and free love,

of drunken romantics and a child's antics.

I sleep in a mattress filled with the future,

uncomfortable and stiff beneath the past

and smiling, awake and staring at the clock.

I dream of my people free from the pressure they create,

my people, the world, a swirl of color and ideas.

Fear of judgement and fear of loneliness.

Dreading silence and regretting decisions.

I dream of revolution. I dream of realization.

I dream of rising above our insecurity.

I dream of living below nothing but the clouds.

Dream of throwing back the shrouds sown and patterned

with all we look back on with disgust.

I know with my glass heart and paper skin

that we don't break that easy.

I know with my ink stained mind and my weary eyes

that this place can be changed.
