Flat

When the weight of the world has shifted,
   and suddenly your finding it hard to breathe
Suddenly your strides through the valley
   turn to struggling to trudge through the sands
Everything becomes fuzzy and unclear in your eyes,
   no matter what anyone says or the way you know it should be
Everything you've been fighting so hard to keep and maintain,
   finally makes you realize the wounds you've sustained in battle
Finally makes you see that you've suffered more than you've succeeded
   and you begin to wonder what it is you've been fighting so hard for
What you have been struggling for
   what all the scars and abrasions really mean
