Journey

Journey

A Poem by Vishal Singh
"

You are very lucky if you get to spend the rest of your life with the one one you love.

"

Stood in the balcony, cup of tea in my hand,

Remembering how you slipped near the bus stand .

The happy eve when I met you first,

Returning home munching a half baked crust.

Ever recalled how hesitant you were ?

When I held out my hand to help you up;

Rested your palm coyly on mine,

As you slowly get back on your feet;

But quickly though pulled away,

Escaping into the street opposite .

Little did you know, how often I came back,

Hoping to see you again, waited till end of eve;

Not very sure what really brought me there,

My stubborn heart, or remains of a shattered belief;

Guess nature had some plans, maybe you had one,

Or both made a deal, and were having fun !

Sleepy as my eyes were, tired of waiting,

Waiting to see you out from that street turn.

Wait was that you, who tugged at my sleeve ?

Cheering me up like dew freshens a leaf !

Yes indeed, you stood by my side,

Still shy, yet placed her hand on mine,

Here in my balcony, cup of tea and a smile,

Has been quite long, this journey yours and mine.
