Just a Leaf

~

A leaf is not but a leaf

having a mind of its own

though its life is brief

no leaf, no stem a clone

 

Each vein grows alone

no two grow the same

always falling to the unknown

always giving to the flame

No leaf has a name

no purpose, no reason

but to be a leaf so tame

a slave to its season

What a beautiful site

for such a miniature life

A few technical comments first. I believe you want the word "vein" and not "vain" and in the last stanza a slave to the its season...I think the word "the" doesn't belong. Now for the interest...I enjoyed the poem and think you captured the essence of a leaf. Makes me want to stop and look at them again...all of them.
