The In-Between

I’m tired of the guessing,
The back and forth, the endless stressing.
Let’s lay it all out, cards on the table,
And find the logical course if we’re still able.

Are we in this together, honey,
Or are we just drifting apart,
Two ships at sea, no compass, no chart?

So please decide,
Before we break each other’s heart,
Before we tear this fragile love apart.

Hold me close, or let me go,
But don’t leave me hanging in the in-between,
That space where hope flickers but isn’t seen.

Take my hand, or set me free,
But don’t trap me in uncertainty.
I need to know, I deserve to know,
If we’re planting roots or just letting go.

Am I your home, or just a stop on the way?
Do I hold your nights, or just borrow your day?

So tell me now, before it’s too late,
Before we seal each other’s fate.
Because love should be a choice, not a guessing game,
And this limbo, this silence - it’s driving me insane.

Just tell me where I stand,
Before we break each other’s hearts,
Before we tear what’s left of us apart.

Uncertainty in any relationship can be the worst. So acceptance of what the other is willing to offer can be a challenge. If you are that unsure, move on. True love is undeniable. any thing less is just a guessing game. This was well written and poignant and got me thinking. Well done, Skylar.

Communication is key. When relationships start to go pear shaped, some talking needs to be done if they are to be repaired. Painful to be in this position. The emotion comes through well in your poem. First stanza sets the scene well. Nicely penned.
