A Poem by Clark

The halls in the school were dark
the chalkboards long erased
the playgrounds all were empty
the buses ceased to run
apples rotted on the desks
of teachers long forgotten
book pages ripped and shredded
broken pencils on the ground.
The halls in the school were dark
and not a child made a sound.
