Strength

This poem is about overcoming the bad In you life and turning it into a good thing

I lie in bed not knowing the possibilities

not knowing the responsibilities

not knowing my own abilities

there I lay paralyzed

not knowing how

not knowing why

but knowing the fact of life

has no more meaning for me

no more hope

no more doing

even though I know its over

I still have strength

strength to continue on

to continue on to another life

another life where my doing is for the good

 

Author's Note

Most things I write, including this one, doesn't pertain to me in anyway. I mean it helps me get out my anger but life definitely has a meaning to me.

I read another poem this afternoon that had this idea of moving on from a life that was over to a new life. The author expressed it with these approximate words, "Happy are the homebound souls (or something like souls ... should've written it down) Creeping from the coffin to the crib."

Funny to find similar ideas like that... what I like about yours poem is the fact, mentioned by another reviewer, that you realize you have the strength to start over, and not only start over, but to do better somehow in the next go round. That's what life's all about. You have expressed it well!

Great depiction of what strength is. It is doing in the face of not "knowing". It is having the courage to face the unknown. In that moment of doubt when you are paralyzed with things that try to hold you back it is what keeps you going.. nice job!
