A Wife's Prayer

There's a soldier among us

He leaves here tomorrow,

His wife is my friend

Her heart's full of sorrow.

They've only been married 

A short time you see,

She knows it's his duty

She must let him be.

This man we call hero

He's only one of many,

He'll defend us with force

Against all and any.

From our lives he'll be missing

But just for a while,

The next thing you know

He'll return with a smile.

This year will fly by

Just a blink in his life,

And soon he'll return with a kiss for his wife.
