Quest

Quest

A Poem by Scott S
"

Inspired by a prompt in a book that I am reading. The prompt is simply "After midnight"

"

Forty past midnight -an inky avenue
Shrouded in the black of night
Street lamp my only friend
Stray dog on the corner
Stares warily my way
He knows not of my mission
Or how my soul does pray

I spied you in the café
With your eyes of river green
A glint of wine upon your lips
Like honey in the sun
A stirring in my heart
A message strong and true
I wander in the hope of somehow finding you

Tangled in my web of thoughts
My quest of sun filled days
The scent of lilac in my mind
Along the ocean's shore we lie
Your mouth a luscious plum
A taste of heaven on your tongue
I long to feel your closeness-I ache to touch your love

Ahead of me in blackness
An angel in the dark of night
My eyes do spot a miracle
An answer to my begging heart
The distance short between us
A few steps- maybe less
Your smile lights the avenue, I know that I am blessed

Oh this is lovely, lovely, lovely! You've captured so many thoughts and feelings in this poem... it flows beautifully, there's a specific tempo - almost like a heart beating.

And, the final line is the perfect happy ending.

Thank you so much for sharing the new form, a perfect one for you.

You seem to have a romantic style among your words, from one brother to another I write in a style like this as I'm not a good writer by far. I don't consider myself one but the words come from the heart. I've tried many times to change my style from romance and it never changes...lol

This piece you have written here is superb!

The title is great.

Great work here.
