Waves

I couldn't sleep one night, and then suddenly the silence turned to the sounds of waves crashing on a rocky shore.

Waves crash over my mind, scattering thoughts

The static noise does nothing to soothe me

I am on edge

Trying, in vain, to collect the sanity

Spooked by any slight sound

Dropping the pieces in the water, yet again

Drifting farther from me

Farther apart from each other
