Two Doves

Two doves perched upon a tree,

Feathers warmed by the setting sun.
They gaze at one another deeply�"
Are they lovers?
Oh, the love lives in their silence,
In the gentle lean, the quiet hush
Between their wings.

Their love needs no language,
Only the hush of twilight,
And the quiet tree that holds their secret.

One coos a note, low and true,
The other answers�"wordless knowing.
They draw close,
A tender kiss exchanged,
Like promises the sky will keep.

So this is love without bounds,
Not held by time, nor tied to words.

Two doves sitting in that tree,
The sun dips low, the sky burns red.
Time whispers softly to the poet,
“It’s time to go home.”

What of the doves?
Perhaps the poet will tell
Tomorrow more...

a lovely setting and a sweet love story....Doves are known to be close to each other, often in love, just like humans...their love is silent, sometimes a murmur .....time goes by and they comfort each other with touch and soft breathing..this could be a metaphor for what we humans do we we are in love.....time means nothing...and we are entwined as one..... Very Nice!!!
