Once You Said You Liked the Rain

Once You Said You Liked the Rain

A Poem by poetic swan

It’s raining now " not wild, but slow,

The kind of rain old sorrows know.
I watch it fall on fence and tree,
And think of who you were to me.

Once, you said you liked the rain"
So I began to love its stain.
Each drop became a part of you,
And I believed the sky did too.

I miss you " yes, I won’t pretend,
But missing doesn’t mean I bend.
The heart may ache, but still be wise"
Not every road needs one more try.

Some paths are meant to fade in rain,
Not loop us back into the same pain.
So I sit still, and let it pour,
And leave your name outside the door.

The sky may weep, the winds may call,
But I don’t have to go at all.
To miss is not to chase again"
The rain falls once. And then it ends.

A poem; quietly devastating in the best way; soft-spoken but unwavering. Its strength is in its resolve. “To miss is not to chase again.” That’s wisdom carved from pain. The speaker allows space for longing without surrendering to it. They’ve walked to the edge of nostalgia, felt the storm, and decided not to get drenched. 🕊️🙏🏻

I love this poem. It's very pretty and reminds me of when I sit watching the rain. Or dancing to my self to its sound

Hiii Poetic Swan,

I liked how you were able to correlate the rain with an ending relationship I thought was very amazing way to see the rain. I also felt pretty sad for the protagonist in the poem. Being involved in an ending relationship but having the wisdom to not continue in it. "The rain falls once. And then it ends." is a wonderful conclusion to this very thoughtful poem.

Thanks for sharing Poetic Swan!!🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰

welcome, also thanks for your beautiful words
This is a **masterclass in restrained heartbreak**, where the rain becomes both a **memory and a metaphor**—for love learned, love lost, and the quiet resolve to **not repeat the past**. The poem’s power lies in its **gentle but unyielding wisdom**, like water wearing down stone without fanfare.

much nostalgia and pain in this finely worked poem, each word is so expressive and your heart tells it all…. your memories have deep meaning and understanding of your past relationship….you have the strength to face your mourning… and the strength to know when to let it go…..excellent

Very good rhyming for a tale of a lesson learned. Sometimes reunions work, sometimes they don't. I think the part of wisdom is being played here.
