Bouquet of Regret

Bouquet of Regret

A Poem by poetic swan

I loved you in the hush of dawn,

When morning’s breath was pale and drawn;
Yet in my heart a darkness grew,
A fault I wished I never knew.

We walked a road of stone and thorn,
With truths I carried, frayed and worn.
Though love was true, it came with shame"
A quiet weight without a name.

The trees bent low, their branches sighed,
As if they knew the why I hide.
Can love be wrong when hearts are torn,
Or must the soul stay weather-worn?

I hold it still, this tender debt"
A bloom that fades but won’t forget.
Beneath these skies of muted hue,
I love you not"yet remember you.

Was it love or infatuation her memory lingers on

Both the cadence and rhyme of this poem are engaging with some very nice lines as well. It is well crafted and lays its message out nicely. Loved it

Oh there it is again, that age old story of love gone awry. How many of us through the ages have tackled this theme? You wrote beautifully, I love how you use the imagery of the road and the trees bent low blended in to the inner feelings. I am 74, and not knowing your age or experiences, I will just say that for me, I had my heart torn very badly three times, and I have very different feelings for each woman. I still love the last. In a way I still love the first, my first love who left me for another man. I have written quite a bit about lost love, please check me out. I am new to your writing but will definitely check out more of your work. MSB

I believe that when hearts are torn, love can fade away... because trust is no longer there...if love comes with shame, then it would be difficult for it to last and there would be secrets long....a debt that may never recede...I love your chosen words for this piece, they are soft, yet determined... NICE!
Warmly, B
