Myths

Myths

A Poem by Soren

A melted dream runs down my eyes

in drips of a scented past

An echo of memory's velvet lies

painted a stain on shadows cast

A trembling of ripples shakes my skin

A breeze from the mind dries dark skies

Flush fresh sewage into a black pond of sin

wearing a bruised smile's disguise

Walking on Egyptian water

whispering willow through willow

A lamb to the slaughter

in a reed basket with a pillow

The imagery is quite vivid and the last few lines tell of the Storting being told. Creative and well done

You are welcome. I loved the details of the reed basket.
Cleverly laid poetry and history, the connect of your words and the final stanza works so well. You have a very clear and imaginative mind, Kudos and more, Soren.

Thanks so much Thomas
The last verse reminded me of the story of the infant Moses. Was not able to link it to the preceding verses, though.

Moses as I have never heard him projected before. Excellent multi layered work.

Thanks for the read Ken it is most appreciated. It is amazing how similar some myths are.
This poem has some very fascinating imagery. The Egyptian waters and the reed basket took me to a biblical time. The events seem to be leading up to something unfortunate. Tying it to the first two verses that were also profound in imagery, a scented dream dripping down the eyes, velvet memories casting a stain on shadows and the dark sewage of sin, all point to loss of hope, darkness and disillusionment.
I loved this read because it had some very unique visuals to offer and offered many angles to ponder about.
