Lighthouse

Lighthouse

A Poem by Soren

Through misty clouds a lighthouse white

down a rocky green hill to the sea

broadcasts its light in beams bright

a welcome sight for sailor eyes to see

A beacon of peril through dark of night

mountains of water raise and fall

in epic battles and heroic fight

forgotten with the next war call

Foam victims on shore swept away

buried at sea without any marker

birthing fire breaks water, head of infant day

reclines in water's coffin as night grows darker

This poem highlights the contrast between the beauty and danger of a lighthouse, as well as the cycle of life and death that is reflected in the sea.

Literary devices such as alliteration in "mountains of water raise and fall" and personification in "birthing fire breaks water" add depth to the poem.

The lighthouse serves as a symbol of guidance and safety in the midst of danger, reflecting the larger themes of light and darkness, life and death. Mirroring the cycle of life and how death is inevitable.

I must say it is very well written,. Brilliant poem dear.

Most humbling words Jacob especially from a poet of your level I feel most honored.
I have a picture in mind of a lighthouse in the west country. Portland Bill. A beacon of light for treacherous seas. Ensuring the craft at sea stay out of danger in stormy conditions. Your whole poem speaks of danger not just at sea but also for those swept out to sea from land. You create some powerful imagery with your stanzas. Much enjoyed Soren.

Many sailor has lost their life to the sea for one reason or another. I love the image of the white lighthouse shining its light illuminating the dark night. A welcome sight for many a sailor

You are welcome as always
A lighthouse used to be so critical for ships not to collide with rocks and capsize. It was a beacon of hope in dark, stormy nights. I loved the white lighthouse standing guard on a rocky green hill, a nobel and steadfast kind of presence there, watching out for those at peril in the sea. Yet, victims on shore were still swept away and buried at sea without any markers and such nameless and open watery graves speak of the tragedies at sea occuring throughout the ages. Sometimes, the best of intentions fail. This poem paints a beautiful picture of the lighthouse and delights the reader with great rhyming and flow of thought. It was a wonderful read.
