Mediocrity

Mediocrity

A Poem by Soren

A drop floating on an endless sea
an urge to be more than mediocrity
sweat augmented degree upon degree
touching others flow through psychology

Spoken words at a university
many others I tried to copy
no hope in a lock step army
art, dance, music no legacy

Locked stagnant, a hidden key
turn the tumblers with originality
drops of rain diversity
An ocean home found in poetry

"Locked stagnant, a hidden key
turn the tumblers with originality"

A hidden key, one that exists in all of us. We all have something original to offer,if we delve deep enough, long enough. As you summed it upso beautifully, we find our ocean in our poetry.

Dear Soren, this poem is special in its message on mediocrity and how one can rise above it. The first line is awesome. Drops floating in an endless sea make for such a profound image of the struggle to float against the general tide. The second verse too underlines the lack of options for those not well-versed with other art forms. Then it all comes together in the concluding verse. We have our answers in poetry.

Wonderfully written, my friend!
