A Poem by Soren

Hypnotized by a moving ad
What was once despised now idolized
Wishing time would not move on
Frozen in what one wished not to be gone

Pull the covers over my head
Protected in a grave of the dead
Memories, return as waves
Dark echoes out of graves

Lost in a thicket of dreams
Torn on brambles horns
Life in unconscious streams
Buried peace mourns

I agree with Jacob. New world Soren. Cannot think for themselves. Listen to garbage coming from every direction. I tried to stay ahead of the ugly in or world. We must seek the truth. Before we cannot. Powerful and worthwhile words shared. Made the reader think.

Thanks so much Coyote for the read and comment it means a lot
This uses words that should be put together. Excellent.
Some ads should and some shouldn't.

Ads!!! One can't watch tv, listen to the radio, play a game on their tablet without being inundated with ads! I too, wish time had not moved on from times past in some ways, especially where ads are concerned.
We can be like an ostrich with our head in the sand, pull the duvet over our head, but sadly, it changes nothing, but the memories of what was return like waves to the shore.
Lost in a forest of dreams, trying to find one's way but stumbles into brambles which tear both clothes and skin. Life in dreams may be peaceful and that peace is missed when we wake to reality.
Seems like three different subjects in the three stanzas of the poem, dear Soren?
I love dear Jacob's interpretation!
For me, the poem is about the past when we were 'Ad free!' There's a longing for the past, the peace of times past and a longing to find that peace again in today's world, but as they are two very different worlds, it is very unlikely we will find what we seek.
A nostalgic write for me, superbly crafted in delightful metaphor and finely expressed. Lovely work, dear Soren. Thank you so very much for sharing...
