Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by Soren

From night mourn a shade torn
Born break of day painted shapes that may
Play in a child’s breeze or die in cloud disease
Moving growing dark reflections of life showing
In it’s shrinking, day and night linking
Shadows fade away at the end of day

I sense a prisoner or perhaps a child grounded to her room. I remember how being alone and fending off boredom can grant almost a gothic, macabre imagination to a child. The shadows and light come alive and become both our playmates and our tormentors.

You certainly grabbed my attention with this wonderful piece of brevity:)

Thank you so much for the read and interpretation it is most inspiring and supportive.
the first line was breathtaking. it sounds a lot like Edgar Allan Poe, and reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock. this dark and brooding vignette paints a wicked scene. yet there is something psychological at work here as well. the persona is afraid of night. but why? there is something about the darkness and cold that unsettles him. is it a memory? is it an over active imagination? is it a certainty something bad will happen? it is sombre and thought-provoking.
