What happened to beauty?

What happened to beauty?

A Poem by Soren

Gum chewed only, to be spit out
The cheap and shiny soon to be discarded
Of quality poured in a draught of a drought
Lasting beauty disregarded

Disposable values pile high on a garbage heap
Today's heroes become tomorrow's trash
Old spouses we don't keep
Hell... even gold they turned into cash

Today's sun will soon depart
Replaced by the glow of a street light
Now black quenched embers of stars, as they part
Beauty's eyes gouged out in a technological fight

my biggest regret is that i cannot see the milkyway where i live. i think if we could see the stars at night, humanity would be in a better place. our disregard for beauty is evident everywhere. the ancient people built architecture that still stand today - built intended to last thousands of years. while on shouldn't romantasise the past, there is something off about the modern age, there is something inhuman about the way we live. thankfully, this website also exists and while i cannot gaze at a starry sky i can come here for a fix of poetry, a fix of beauty.
