Yesterday's embers

Yesterday's embers

A Poem by Soren

Black burnt out coals, a past life strewn upon the ground
Once a king, leaf gowned, now with crumbling ashes crowned
This naked form burnt, free in smoke, climbs like birds
Ashen white with fire's age, liberated of superfluous dry words
Spent, its kind warmth, reminder of frigid nights gone
A forgotten debt of comfort lost, in morning's yawn of dawn

Yesterday might as well be a burnt pile of ash. There is no redoing it nor can we change what has transpired. We can only move forward with grace and try to learn from our yesterday’s lesson and apologize for unkind acts

love it....I just hope if the coals are strewn they are cooled first or wildfires can be started
by poetic embers that are still smoldering.

very sharply written, and like a Tarkovski film, the images are more astounding than the meaning. i don't think there are 'hidden meanings' in this work, but for me, it made me think the ways memory effects the present. a welcoming fire burning through the night - it brings warmth and enchantment. but as the next day arrives its just a memory, and there is a feeling of wanting to go back but knowing you can't. it's a great play on very delicate emotions.
