Wiped Clean

Wiped Clean

A Poem by Soren

From basin to drain to sewer
Life pumped in veins bathed in blood
Filling river Styx, Charon the pursuer
As it ends it turns to mud

Cleansed in ashes, washed in dirt
Bathed with soil, erasing life's slashes
A residue of discarded earth removed my hurt
Healed of pain's gashes, with dust's splashes

Sand paper peels off rust and grime
Bark of skin scoured and bleached
Anguish's scars faded with time
From the bowels of worms purity is reached

I reminded of Oedipus Rex...
something the chorus said about man at his death hoping he has balanced the ledger the best he could.
Hoping he did enough good deeds to balance out the chaos he has caused.
I feel in the end, we will somehow wipe the slate clean...at least I hope we get that chance.

A healing process here so brilliantly expressed. Wonderful use of imagery. The final stanza where scars are fading after the anguish, is superb Soren. Emotions and pain well conveyed.
