Scattered

Scattered

A Poem by Soren

Bones of memory rot slowly
Past fetid acts buried
Weeds of guilt sprout around a crypt of the past
Concrete of denial crumbles in storms of time
Revealing decayed shame

Reeking of remorse, that wafts on conscience's breeze
A fallen headstone of the past
Lies face down under rubble
Where flies now prey on moldering dirt

Soren, this poem is haunting and vividly captures the weight of memory and guilt. I love how you turn abstract feelings into concrete, almost tangible images. The rotting bones and fallen headstone really make the emotions feel real. It’s a stark, powerful meditation on how the past lingers even when we try to bury it

As dark as dark can be. Conjures up some disturbing imagery, is a wallop on the senses. This poem has a very Halloweeny and macarbre feel to it. Just gave me a shiver you did Soren. Scary stuff.
