Insomnia of life

Insomnia of life

A Poem by Soren

I have longed for sleep well before the shadows fell
Sweet slumber, home of dreams, your fragrance's alluring smell
Bed of darkness, blanket of soft blackness, come cover tired eyes
Bury me away far from light of day, where thorns stinging lies lie in disguise
On a stone pillow of peace lay my head, to awaken nevermore
With covers of forgetfulness to erase all that happened before

a beautiful preemptive epitaph that is going to require a massive piece of granite. and somebody is gonna get the message "where thorns stinging lies lie in disguise" ( nice compilation of alliteration and rhyme ) "to erase all that happened before" and know exactly what these great lines mean and to whom they apply. Well said - like it a lot - carl

Thank you so much Carl your words are always most appreciated.
Soren, this poem really captures the heavy weariness of life. Sleep becomes more than rest. It’s escape from the "thorns stinging lies" around us. The "stone pillow" and "covers of forgetfulness" feel haunting and deeply human. I could feel that longing for peace with every line. Beautifully moving.
