Tyrant

Tyrant

A Poem by Soren

Lightning and thunder, demands and threat
Torn asunder from a climate upset
The west wind blows a winter gale
Tongue frozen and pinned, with an icicle nail
Peeled of one's coat, shirt and skin
Bolted the door to let one in
With hurricane breath orders given
Punishment death, the dead forgiven

The full force of nature’s vengeance here Soren. One can only imagine the damage inflicted both physically and mentally. A powerful metaphor with superb imagery. A great read.

Thank you Chris for your read and interpretation it is what i had in mind when I wrote it.
This is a striking and intense poem, Soren. I love how you use storm imagery, lightning, gale, hurricane, as a metaphor for the power and cruelty of a tyrant. It really brought back a memory for me. I was once caught in a super typhoon, as strong as a category 5 hurricane. The house shook, visibility vanished, and all I had was my boyfriend’s hand guiding me. The chaos, fear, and helplessness you describe, the storm, the force, the threat, resonated so vividly.

The way the poem captures both physical and emotional exposure makes the reader feel the chilling force of oppression. Truly haunting and vivid.
